"Best Italian Restaurant, East Bay"

AS SEEN IN THE TIMES GAZETTE

SUMMER 2001 ISSUE

If you're looking for a little slice of Italy or just want to relax in a cozy atmosphere over cocktails with friends, the TUSCAN TAVERN CUCINA & BAR at 632 Metacom Ave. (Route 136) in Warren is the place. Just the other night, we strolled into this well-respected eating establishment expecting the finest in dining cuisine. We weren't disappointed.

The TUSCAN TAVERN offers its patrons a wide variety of food and drink, not to mention a majestic setting, complete with colorful Italian-accented wall murals that set the mood. You can choose from tables and chairs or booths, there is plenty of space to accommodate most crowds, and rhapsodic Italian music made things lively.

Owner John Tagessian said the public has responded well to its offerings. New ideas have been incorporated since TUSCAN TAVERN first opened, and much of the credit must go to Mr. Tagessian, along with general manager Michael Cockcroft and head chef Jerry Lafleur.

Our waitress opened our eyes to some tempting dinner specials, but it was the long list of items in the regular dinner menu that had our mouths watering. TUSCAN TAVERN offers everything from wood-burning brick oven pizza to 12 different pasta entrees---every one of them worth considering.

All in all the TUSCAN TAVERN is a great place to dine. There's something for everyone and the price is right. Live jazz is from 8 p.m. to midnight on weekends.
